This week I've picked Turquoise. The color has been named Pantone's color of 2010. Expect to see the color popping up all over; from runways, to cosmetics, to accessories!

Mobsters, Ballerinas, and Crystal Pleating

With Paris' Opera Garnier and the ballet I attended STILL on my mind, I was immediately drawn to an article in the May 19, 2010 issue of WWD, "Dance Class", featuring Gilles Mendel's resort collection for J.Mendel. The designer was asked to design costumes for New York City Ballet's newest work "Call Me Ben". The article discussed how he had to learn the difference between "designing for the stage [and designing for] social settings". Marc Happel, costume shop director for NYCB, was quoted discussing how smaller details will get lost on stage, so bolder is better. He said, "many times I take [the costumes] and stand at the end of a hallway and say 'OK, what you're looking at is Row A. Most everyone else is going to be even farther away'."

The one-act ballet takes place in the forties and follows the story of gangster Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel. Dressing the women in delicate pleats and flowing mousseline, and the men in classically tailored pinstripe suits, it's clear one of Mendel's first inspirations for the project was formed around Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. The women also sport tweed pencil skirts, cape jackets, and all dance with Forties-styled dance shoes. For Mendel's resort collection, it goes without saying that he brought ballet from the stage to the runway. The collection emphasizes the graceful aspects of ballet with the use of flowing fabrics such as tulle, mousseline, and organza. The movement in the garments is incredible. Looking at the photo with Mendel and the blue dress, it's as if the mannequin is twirling. Each piece is extremely elegant with the glamour and detail seen in Mendel's work.

My Dearest Apologies - I've Got Paris on a String

Dear Readers,
I sincerely apologize for my INCREDIBLY long absence. Paris' magic put me under a spell, and I've just come to. This semester has flown by, but brought wonderful and exciting people, places, and events to my life abroad.
I scored a fantastic internship at WWD Paris which has let me experience the real life of a journalist. I have wined and dined with fellow bloggers at a gorgeous apartment in St. Germain des Près while overlooking the sparkling Tour Eiffel. And, my favorite experience of all, I fell into the lap of luck when running late for the Hommage à Jerome Robbins ballet at the famous Opéra Garnier (for those who don't know, this is the opera where Phantom story takes place).

Since I was late, I was going to have to wait to take my seat after the first act was through, until the lighting and sound crew OF THE ACTUAL OPERA HOUSE invited me into the lighting booth to watch the show from there. The crew could not have been nicer or more generous. As the night progressed, one thing led to another and all of a sudden during the entracte I found myself on THE stage where I had just watched professional ballerinas waltz and pirouette. I was absolutely speechless, and couldn't do a thing but smile like a child on Christmas morning. After the final bow, I was offered a full tour of the opera house from the very bottom to the very top, seeing areas that wouldn't usually be seen by those on the public tours.

When the opera house was built, the water table was found to be higher than assumed. So, the building actually sits atop a mini lake, which yes, contains fish. Climbing the 7 flights up to the actual stage, then a few more, I entered the giant practice rooms where we found a little tutu hiding (pictured above). The construction was beautiful, and if you can't see, very intricate. Unfortunately, it was too late to see the costume atelier where every costume is made in-house, but I was promised at my next visit (yes next visit!!) I could. My fingers are crossed for a possible apprenticeship... I hope, I hope.

So my dear readers, this is a little update from my nouvelle vie parisienne.
I really am going to try to keep my promise of updating more (especially because I know I won't hear the end of it from Melissa, of Prête Moi Paris, and M. if I don't)

Milan Fashion Week!

Hello again Bloggers!! I've finally gotten around to rounding out my favorites from Milan Fashion Week, and I thought I'd share one with you - Albino! I really loved the focus on shape with this collection, especially all the A-line, but mini, flowing skirts. Also, the capes and the who prim look really won me over, as well as the wonderful color palette of caramels, creams, blacks and even some light blue. The prints added a really pretty touch to the already amazing collection! Loved it all.

So I'm finally finishing up with NYFW, and wanted to share the Proenza Schouler collection. How can I explain my love for this? This is so so so beautiful. Please, if I ever become a famous blogger send me a pair of those amazing amazing white graffiti skinnies (which are a collaboration with J Brand!). Since that probably won't happen, maybe I'll jsut save money by never buying groceries again. They are so beautiful.

From London I really love the Burberry Prorsum collection, actually, I'm obsessed. First the Spring collection was amazing, and now this. Christopher Bailey, you're great. How did I even pick only six looks???

Grace Coddington. Since The September Issue just was released on DVD, I watched it for the second time and really loved Grace in the movie, her humor, style, creativity and the way she can put an idea together into a photo shoot truly amazes me. In the movie they show pictures of her when she modeled for Vogue, she's gorgeous. Oh and it doesn't hurt that she's from Whales (the British accent wins it all).

Private Tour

Last Friday I was grateful enough to get a private tour of Barney's NY with my fashion club at school, I really had no idea what to expect because I've never even set foot in Barney's! Our tour guide (Taylor) was a very educated on Barney's gay man that had worked there since 1994. He knew all the in's and out's and told so many stories.

Did you know....

+ Goyard bags started the vinyl monogram, not Louis Vuitton.

+ Alexander Wang worked for the fashion director of Barney's

+ Frederic Malle is a genius? (more about that later)

+ Kid's True Religion jeans are $150 (ew)

+ Barney's discovered not only Seven Jeans, but also Giorgio Armani!

+ Barney's has a very well known selection of jeans, and the employees should be able to look at you and tell you what size, style and brand of jean would look the best on you

+ Barney's started as a men's wear store in Brooklyn that was known for discounted items

Marc by Marc Jacobs - once again Marc amazes me, as always. I am in love with the draping of fabrics, the colors (oranges and reds mixed with greys and browns) and the patterns.

Mulberry - surprisingly Mulberry was another one of my favorites, I am obsessed with the luxurious bold patterns, shoes, fabrics and designs Mulberry put together

Top Picks: Part 1

Well, New York Fashion Week is officially over, and I can start showing my favorites from the week. I have too many that I narrowed them down to 10(ish), so I'll split it up into three posts of favorite designers overall and some favorite looks that I wasn't expecting. I was pretty thrilled with everything for FW this fashion week, a lot blew me away and took it to another level. I've already mentioned here that I saw a trend of oranges that I'm loving so much, with that I've also noticed a lot more velvet (YES, I love velvet) and more sheer, more black, more color blocking and knits. All of which I'm thrilled about.

First five favorites in alphabetical order:

Adam - gorgeous shapes, knits, shoes, tights and detailing of the knits won me over.

Costello Tagliapietra - in love with the colors and the blocking of different colors used, the dull green, pinks and oranges are gorgeous

Julian Louie - this to me is so wearable, I would die for any of it, of course the neutral colors and pale ones made me love this so much.

Milly - I was surprised I enjoyed Milly's line as much as I did, I usually am not a fan but I loved the color blocking and the textured tights. The patterns she used made me think private school, and Paris for some reason!

It's official as of 9a.m. this morning fashion week has begun! I'm so excited to start seeing all the designer's lines. I thought I'd share one of my favorites so far of designer Lyn Devon.

I'm really obsessing over the pant length, open backs and full skirts that she's put together. The color palette is equally amazing - the dusty orange lilac purple and neon yellow fit perfectly with the whites, blacks and navy blues.

The Month of Love

Happy February bloggers! In the spirit of the month of love, I thought I'd share two editorials of one of my favorite couples, Charlotte Kemp Muhl and Sean Lennon! They have been all over the place this month. Probably because they are so lovely together! I love Charlotte Kemp Muhl so much, and love them together. I've been obsessed with them for a while and seeing them in not one but two editorials this month made me so excited! The first came into my very own hands when I recieved this months issue of NYLON in the mail! The spread is called "This Is a Love Song" and is photographed by Justin Hollar. It features a great interview with the both of them along side romantic photos of the two of them, in which she looks beautiful!

Then, thanks to Fashionising, I found an editorial from this month's L'Officiel Russia. Photographed by Jonathan Pozniak, "All You Need is Love" features Charlotte in beautiful lingerie inspired pieces accompanied by Sean in a beautiful home setting. I love her outfits so much in these!

Although unlike everyone else I'm not totally and completely excited for the new Alice In Wonderland movie coming out, however I will see it just because I believe all the costumes will be wonderful and because Q. and C. have been in love with Alice In Wonderland since I've known them so I feel like I have to now (thanks guys!) BUT the new cover girl for Teen Vogue's most recent issue is Mia Wasikowska, and the shoot they did with her is gorgeous so I thought I'd share! (and I had no idea she had short hair, and I love it on her!)

Hi bloggers! From January 24th to January 28th it was the Spring 2010 Haute Couture week in Paris! The shows were all wonderfully amazing, and I wanted to share my favorites with you!

#1. Chanel - A mixture with of futuristic tones and romantic feels, the Chanel Couture collection was an amazing collection of detail and shine. It focused on silvers and pastels, and featured no black or gold, a first for Karl Lagerfeld. It was definitely my favorite of the season, especially since silver and pastels are two of my favorite things (I really don't wear gold!)

#2. Christian Dior - For this collection, John Galliano was inspired by the Charles James gowns at the Costume Institute at the MET. With the feel of a woman who rides, the pieces feature top hats and veils and beautiful cuts. I love the vintage feel of it all, and all the red really stands out when pastels are taking over the runway!

#3. Elie Saab - I loved the dream-like feel of Elie Saab's gowns in this couture collection. The dresses were all romantic, in the pale pastels that we've been seeing on the runway but with a bit more dusty tones. Also, he decided not to use jewelry and natural hair/make-up. So the dresses stand out even more.

Summer Lovin'

Havin' a blast thinking about the summer, the beach and bathing suits. Especially vintage inspired suits, high waisted bottoms, cute little tops, or one pieces with little shorts at the bottom. In classic colors, polka dots, or cute prints. How wonderful does that sound? Someone bring me to Hawaii, I need the warmth! While I'm waiting here are some of my favorite pictures of vintage suits.

Hello, hello! Recently the dreary weather in Paris has led me to do some more "therapy shopping". It also doesn't help... my bank account, that there are AMAZING sales all over Paris either, for it is soldes season. (For those of you who don't know what soldes is, French shops tend not to have a "sale section". Instead, to clear out Winter inventory before Spring/Summer, and to clear out Summer inventory before Fall/Winter, the stores have huge sales - 75% off - mid-January to mid-February and mid-July to mid-August.)

Since soldes is coming to a close, stores are starting to do their final markdowns, which are just too irresistible. So far my purchases, in addition to all of the vintage, have been: a red-orange cable knit tube scarf from Kookaï (a shop, full of beautiful clothing, which seems to exist everywhere but the Americas. Oh poo.), black shorts with detachable suspenders from Zara (this purchase was quite exciting for me because my last pair of suspenders broke awhile ago, and I've been having trouble finding a replacement!), a fun neon pink and orange necklace from H&M (definitely a statement piece), and a dusty rose dress that I've been eyeing at Zara all semester that finally went on sale!

Blast from the past

Recently I've been inspired by vintage fashion and icons, well not recently... I'm always inspired by vintage anything. It's been even more this week because 1. my art history teacher was talking about analyzing a picture or work of art and being able to tell when it was made or taken by symbols, clothing etc. She used a picture of Jackie O. (Kennedy) as an example. This reminded me of how much I love her, so I had to show you some of my favorite pictures and more things inspired by vintage and her.

I also found an editorial a couple of weeks ago that I thought I'd never post about but it's pretty vintage inspired and looks like Jackie O's style with a modern twist, so now I feel the urge to show you that as well. It's called Cote d'Allure from the January 2010 Vogue Germany, with Madisyn Ritland.

Alice Always ♡

Thank you M. for introducing me to the blog: The Cherry Blossom Girl! Please go check out her site, the blog is gorgeous, as is she and her clothing. Plus, she is a fellow Parisienne.
One thing that really excited me about her blog was the link to Photoshoot because within the shoots, I found an "Alice In Wonderland" themed one (always a favorite). The photos reminded me a lot of the time C. and I worked on a commercial shoot for the "Calm-A-Sutra"Of Tea contest where I played Alice. Behind the scenes C. and I were fooling around taking some pictures which I've posted below with some pictures from the photoshoot on Cherry Blossom as well. Of course the actual photoshoot's pictures are much better than our fooling around ones, but quite related, huh?

Free 'P' ☆

Yesterday was one of those therapeutic shopping days...What was the prescription? VINTAGE.
Charlotte and I spent the better half of the afternoon perusing the vintage shops in the Marais, my favorite area of Paris. We came across a few shops with some absolutely fabulous designer pieces, but they were more like collectables, so their prices were wayyy up there. The garments were quite fun to look at though. A girl can dream, right?

We eventually came across Free "P" Star, a tiny shop JAMMED with clothes. The 3€ bins immediately caught our attention (something more along the lines of our student budgets!) Digging through the abyss like bins, this season's nautical stripes started floating to the top. Charlotte bought a loose-fitting striped shirt, and I bought a stripy tank, soon to be cropped. Next was the 1€ bin, mostly packed with different types of scarves that would have taken days to sort through. So my shopping tactic was to reach way down and pull the fabric up, and by doing so, I happened upon a grey-blue and black cheetah print scarf. Just something fun, and only ONE euro! My last purchase was a red, burnt orange floral print dress that I intend on altering a bit. I plan to hem it and shorten the sleeves, possibly adding a gather? Let me know what you think. I'll post pictures of the process once I figure out how I will do these alterations sans sewing machine!

After yesterday's vintage adventure, I've gotten into quite the fripe-y mood. So, on my way to lunch on the bank of Canal St. Martin (soon to have it's own post here), I came across another shop on rue de Lancry. Same name, FripeStar, but different owners. Loving the baggy flannel shirts of the moment, I decided to invest in my own. Out of their vast selection, I chose a red, white, and blue flannel pattern with pearly snaps (pictured above). I also tried on some lace up heeled booties, that were adorable, but unfortunately they were a bit big... Alas, my search goes on for vintage lace up boots. Another excuse for more vintage shopping? Ok!

It's times like these that I really wish I lived in Paris. With all the magazines showcasing the SS2010 collections, you can bet that Vogue Paris would do it in an extravagant way. The magazine's February '10 issue features a huge spread that devotes a page each to the hottest collections of the season. Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, with art direction by Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Alt and Camilla Nickerson; it features models Dree Hemingway, Freja Beha Erichsen, Raquel Zimmermann, Anna de Rijk, Lara Stone, Naomi Campbell, Daria Werbowy, and more; just to name a few! "Vogue-a-Porter" shows the models either on a Moroccan getaway, with beautiful backdrops and colors, or in simple and stunning studio shots. Now this post might be a little picture heavy, there were so many pictures that I loved! I've tried to limit it to collections that I've really loved since the runway shows, but there was still so many. You should definitely check out the entire spread of gorgeous pictures at Fashion Gone Rogue! I really need to find a way to get my hands on this magazine (hey Q. are you reading this? hehe) !!

The Amsterdam Chainsaw Massacre

A couple of days ago the cover of Dazed and Confused's February issue hit the internet showing model Magdalena Frackowiak wearing one of Viktor & Rolf's Spring/ Summer 2010 pieces. To be honest, I wasn't that big of a fan of the show when I first saw it, I tend to focus my love more on things you can actually wear, but after seeing this spread I've changed my mind. Though I'd still never wear these, I love the way that the photos are so simple because you don't need anything other than dress. The dress alone stands as a work of art, and if it did have more than a white background it would be too much. The spread is called "The Amsterdam Chainsaw Massacre," with photography by Josh Olins, and bears the tag line "In a season when fashion houses are playing it safe, maverick designers Viktor & Rolf took on the credit crunch with their thrillingly impractical mutilation of tulle." The images are beautiful, and I thought I'd share them with you guys, maybe not as a source to pick your next outfit from, but definitely a source of inspiration!

Since I was little I have always been fascinated by rocks, you know the cool kind with crystals in them, known as Agate or Geode. I have a big collection in my room at home, I'll have to show you guys soon, it's more of a secret obsession though. My boyfriend called me a closet nerd when he found out haha! Georgia Frost is too too cute, and in this shoot for Elle Magazine she definitely brings her quirky charm. Not only do I love her, but I love the styling of the shoot as well. It shows us a lot of trends for this year, not to mention some of my favorite trends, such as sheer, thigh-highs, an velvet. Yesterday my roommate brought back the most wonderful calendar of an artist's work I've never seen. Mark Spain is an amazing painter, his work captures the perfect part of a women's beauty and what they are wearing, I love them so much!

So, I'm back in my little dorm room and loving every minute of it! I spent all day laying around and doing nothing to prepare for my classes tomorrow, that start at 8:30 in the morning which I'm not to happy about, but I guess it's okay since both classes I have tomorrow are fashion courses! I'm pretty excited hopefully I'll like them.

Rah Rah... Oh Gaga!

Two words: Lady. Gaga.

Some love her, some hate her. Personally, I'm a lover. From her fun-to-dance-to, catchy songs, to her out of this world costumes, I'm a fan through and through. She is like no other musician/fashion icon/media persona out there. T Magazine's blog published an interview with the man responsible for the living fashion spread which is the music video for "Bad Romance". Nicola Formichetti is not only stylist to Miss Gaga, but also, the creative director of magazine Dazed and Confused and fashion director of Vogue Hommes Japan.

How does someone come up with the such imaginative spectacles that Lady Gaga wears? He told T Magazine he often finds inspiration in his "huge toy collection that [he sources] through for ideas". Formichetti also said, "most importantly [he finds] that traveling and visiting new places is very inspiring."

Agreed! Living in Paris, and doing my day-to-day routine, I find tons of inspiration. Any large city introduces a plethora of people and scenes; everyday is a new experience. I'm excited to travel more this semester to expand my file of cultural influences.
Formichetti, half-Japanese, half-Italian, donates his "East meets West" personal style to his work as well.

I would love to pick his brain. I have always been in complete awe of Lady Gaga, especially with her latest "Bad Romance" video. Granted, Gaga brings much of her own personal style to what she wears, so working with Formichetti couldn't have created a better fashion love affair.

I love Sonia Rykiel's girly look, something that is very unlike my own personal style, but I'm trying to incorporate more of. Roses are red

my hair is officially died back to my natural color! One of the pluses to having almost black hair is that I can wear almost any color of clothing without it looking horrible on me, especially red! With fading red hair, anything red looked horrible on me, so I'm excited I can wear red all the time now and look great in it!

A long time ago I found this editorial on wehearit, and have saved it ever since hoping to blog it one day, and now I can!

Zac Posen x Target

Bloggers, I am so excited! I just came home to find that a first look at Zac Posen for Target has been posted on fashionista!! Now we're all no strangers to the amazing Target collaborations, such as Anna Sui, Rodarte and even a Gaultier line coming out soon, and Zac Posen does not fail either! The looks embody Posen's designs perfectly, as fashionista puts it: "made for a woman who likes to dress up, but might not have a red carpet to walk every other week." I love it so much! It's the perfect miss of bright and dark colors, and does dressing up without being over the top! While in my opinion it's a little pricier than I expected, a sleeveless floral dress goes for $74, it is affordable for what it is, even though I'll probably only have enough money to get one thing. Regardless, I'll definitely be there when the collection hits stores April 25th, will you?

Glass Gems

I've been meaning to make this post for probably close to a month now, and finally am! I've been really interested/obsessed with perfume bottles of all types, shapes, sizes. Although I am just started my perfume collection with Chance by Chanel, I'm really excited to get more bottles and make my dresser look gorgeous with all the different bottles and tops for them! I've been trying to find some at antique stores but no luck so far, hopefully soon though!

I was so thrilled with their collection for spring/summer 2010, the crazy prints was my favorite part, that and all the navy. I'm loving navy and white right now, not only for the nautical themed clothing but just in general.

I actually bought a dress back in October that really reminded me of Miu Miu from Forever 21, it's my favorite dress still. It's the perfect length and has some fullness in the skirt that makes me love it even more!

Happy Monday bloggers! I have one week left until I'm back at school and taking 6 classes, which I'm excited for. I think I'm just sick of being home doing nothing. This next week I'll be busy though, tomorrow is my boyfriend's birthday and then I'll be packing and doing last minute things until I go back to school!

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went into Princeton for a bit with my little sister and I managed to bare the cold and take some pictures of my outfit which included my new velvet cape! I didn't add the button and chains yet, but you'll get the idea of the cape, it's really gorgeous!

Then at night we went to New York City to see Passion Pit at Terminal 5, they were absolutely amazing!

Once upon a time...

The fairytales I grew up having read to me have been making a significant comeback in the past few years. Now, more than ever, "fairytale chic" is in the spotlight. With the premiere of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland in March, influencing all sorts of frivolous and dreamlike pieces and editorials, to this past September's issue of Vogue with the spread "Into the Woods" featuring Natalia Vodianova as Little Red Riding Hood, I couldn't be more elated to start experimenting with different childhood inspired outfits.
Browsing through the soldes at Galeries Lafayette the other day, I came across the random American Apparel shop in the middle of the store. Spotted. I was immediately drawn to the red California Fleece Cape. I tried it on, instantly feeling the urge to take a trip through a snow-dusted forest only to find Grandma has become a wolf. I was in love. Unfortunately, the cape was 72 €.. a bit too expensive for my budget/the actuality of the cape. It's absolutely adorable, but it is just fleece...

So, my search will continue for fun fairytale garments to incorporate into my wardrobe. Perhaps a Hänsel and Gretel dirndl-like sundress, or maybe a shimmering pair of Ruby Red Slippers. I'll keep you updated in my findings.

A day to myself

Today I traveled into New Hope, PA mainly to "go" with my mom to get her tattoo, yes I said her tattoo, my mom got a tattoo today ha! But I really just went for the free ride to New Hope to do some vintage and thrift shopping, and see the gorgeous Delaware River. It was a bit cold but I had a good time going into all the vintage stores by myself and spending as much time as I wanted in each one basically examining everything.

here's some pictures from my day;

my favorite vintage dress shop, which is a little out of my price range had a wreath decorated with Audrey Hepburn pictures! I basically died...

I was sneaky and got a picture of one of the displays in the store, gorgeous - I know.

I went home with a lovely black velvet short cape from my favorite vintage shop Nightbird, I plan on adding a button and chain to it since it comes with nothing to keep it on, I'll show you what it looks like soon!

Also just thought I'd share my excitment about Polaroids coming back into my life soon, they are making new cameras and coming out with more film - YAY. Although I'm not a Lady Gaga fan, so I'm not thrilled she's the new creative director for Polaroid, but whatever gets them going again!

and last but not least, I finally purchased lipstick yesterday, I feel like an adult in lipstick and never wore it before but I've become sightly in love with it, here's quick pictures I took in my two new shades. My hair color looks horrible with the shades, but I'm dying it back to my real color (dark brown, basically black) (- it's red in these pictures, you can't even tell though) on friday so I should look wonderful when it's done!

Dream 1; To have ModCloth name a dress after me! I love that they do a "blogger of the moment" in ModCloth's blog ModLife and every time the blogger does an interview with them, picks out her favorites from the shop and then ModCloth names a dress after the blogger, which usually is the blogger's style. Alexa, I love you always

I haven't talked much about Alexa Chung on my blog recently, but she has a very warm place in my heart. I'm mainly...obsessed with her - her style, her accent, her everything! I've even met her twice, and been in the audience of her show on MTV, It's On With Alexa Chung twice! (I'm very upset it's not going to be on anymore by the way.) But it looks like I'm not the only one loving her!

Doll Parts

Eight years ago, in the sixth grade, I first read Alice in Wonderland, and I fell in love. Sure I'd seen the Disney movie (which I think I enjoy more now then I actually did back then), but the imagery Lewis Carroll could create was just beautiful. And lately, it seems everyone loves Alice too. Of course there has been a lot of hype over Tim Burton's rendition on the classic tale, set to hit theaters on March 5th! And it's no wonder that as florals and pastels are taking over, L.A. Times named the "Alice in Wonderland" theme a trend for 2010. Anyway, seeing Natasha Poly's spread in the latest V magazine, I agree with Modelinia that she definitely took a trip down the rabbit hole. And she looks absolutely gorgeous doing it! src: modelinia

Happy New Year blogging world! I wanted to share with you all an editorial that I LOVED from the Jan 2010 US Vogue: Already Famous. It features one of my favorite models/ girl crushes, Sasha Pivovarova with a variety of "young rockers" all modeling Spring 2010's stand-out looks. The bands/artists featured are MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Beirut, The Horrors, Chester French, The Golden Silvers and Mika. Color Beauty

Everyone want to know my new favorite color, for basically anything and everything?

Rose! it's beautiful, and let me tell you - I'm not a fan of pink and haven't been since middle school but for some reason this pale pink shiny tone has caught my eye and I'm determined to find something this shade and wear it everywhere!

Two things I've been loving lately?

Forever 21 and Tennessee Thomas (whom might I add sat in front of me and C. from Owl Wings while we were in the audience of It's On With Alexa Chung)

I recently found out that Forever 21 brought Tennessee to the studio to try on the new Boutique by Forever 21 (a new line, of all vintage looking items - already loving it). Theres an interview here!

What is your favorite thing about boutique by Forever 21?
I love how each piece feels lovely and special but not fussy. You can dress them up or layer them over more casual pieces for a truly unique feel.

The Arts issue features cover girl Cate Blanchett, and a Hansel & Gretel inspired fashion editorial featuring Lady Gaga and models Lily Cole & Andrew Garfield. The issue hits stands tomorrow! I can't wait to get it!

V magazine

One thing I love is to is sit in Barns & Noble and grab every fashion magazines there is and read them all, stare at all the pictures and tune everyone out, especially because I get no magazine while at school I've been dying! and missing out!

After seeing that wonderful short film with all the Chanel clothing and accessories made for V magazine that i posted a couple of days ago, I had to go buy a copy of the magazine! I immediately fell in love with it, as do I with any fashion magazine. V magazine caught my eye with the huge pages, colors, and wonderfully chosen fashion ads, and photo shoots. I also very much enjoyed that Natalie Portman was on the cover, and had the most beautiful photo shoot of my life; edgy, raw, masculine and beautiful all at the same time.

Theres pages of collages of celebs at parties with/for V magazine, articles about new up and coming artists/musicians/models/fashion designers. Along with all of this, there was the interview with Alexa Chung I have been dying to get a hold of, along with amazing photographs of her. See the article/interview here

What was my favorite part of the magazine? The "Pin me up, pin me down" photo shoot, based off Pin up girls - done the modern way.

Thanks to Topshop's facebook page I just died a little, some of the pieces Ms. Audrey Hepburn has worn are being auctioned off over three days in December. I know everyone loves Ms. Hepburn and would die for these clothes, which is why I'm about to hyperventilate!!!! You can see all of her clothes and accessories being auctioned off, as well as vintage Chanel bags, shoes, and other designer dresses/clothing. I'M DYING! Take a LOOK!

Brigitte Bardot

Vintage Brigitte Bardot postcard.

In the 1950s and 60s, boys and men were obsessing over iconic sex goddesses Marilyn Monroe, and Bridgitte Bardot. Born in Paris in 1934, the fashion model, actress and even singer first appeared as a model in the early 1950s; appearing on the cover of ELLE magazine in March 1950. She went on to appear in many different films, perhaps best known for her controversial role in Roger Vadim's And God Created Woman in 1956 and her starring role in Jean-Luc Godard's Contempt in 1963. She even went on to have a small singing career. But Bridgitte Bardot is probably best known for the icon she has become. A fashion icon along the likes of Marilyn, Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O, she made the monokini popular and the "Bardot" neckline was named for her. Her hairstyle, a sort of beehive, has become associated with her. Guys wanted her and girls wanted to be her. John Lennon and Paul McCartney idolized her and even Andy Warhol painted her in 1974. To me, she embodies a look that I've been obsessing over lately. She's fierce, but still has something sweet about her; sexy, girly and edgy all at the same time. She's the type of woman that can kick your ass in a dress. (And she still is kicking ass - she's now an animal rights activist.) She's a huge icon to me, I mean, what's not to love?

Sonic Fabric

I recently came across Sonic Fabric, this awesome fabric company makes fabric out of 50% recorded audio cassette tape and 50% polyester thread. The fabric ends up looking metallic and shiny, and the best thing about it? It's actually listenable! You can make a listening device and listen to your fabric or if it's something already made, your clothing!

The Zoe Report

An Education

I'm shaking with anticipation to see An Education Thursday for my one year anniversary with my boyfriend, I fell in love the minute I found out it took place in London during the 1960's, it was plus for me to find out it was a love story of a teenage girl (played by Carey Mulligan, who reminds me of Audrey Hepburn and Zooey Deschanel) and an older man (Peter Sarsgaard). The costumes are simply amazing, take a look.

Jenny Talullah Humphrey

Lil' J even has a trendy middle name. Watching Gossip Girl last night I was very happy that Jenny was more in it than recently this season. Her outfits were amazing, as usual, and I loved her cotillion dress! I wish I still had occasions to get dressed up for like prom in high school. Although I never wore a full length gown for proms or anything, lately I've had the urge to wear one and I'd definitely wear this. Also The Plastiscines performed at the Cotillion! A while ago I did a post about their EP and now they're full album, About Love, is out and it's very good; I definitely recommend it! Plus they looked just as amazing as Lil' J.

One of the perks of having my car on campus is that I finally got to go downtown to see the movie Coco before Chanel. I've been waiting to see this movie forever fearing by the time I could see it would be out of theaters, but finally I got to! The movie not only tells the life of Coco before she started her fashion career but it's also in French, you truly grasp how she lived, felt and acted because you get see everything in French. It's a love story, a story about courage, a sad story, and the whole time you really fall in love with Coco (Audrey Tautou is wonderful as Coco), you fall in love with the way she started to wear men's suits, and clothing to go horse back riding, how she never wore a corset so that she could actually breathe, and how she glowed elegance with her hair tied up looking like a man.
Please go see this when you can!

Hello bloggers! I've exciting news! I started a new blog much like M. did mostly so that I could have my writing all in one spot for resumes and whatnot.
