Introduction: Q.

Hello, Quinn here. Originally from Princeton, New Jersey, I have been residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the past year and a half as an Apparel Design student at Louisiana State University. (I think I will go leave my story of how I ended up in Louisiana for another post. I’m not writing a novel.) I’m also minoring in French and Theatre, but considering double majoring in French. There are so many interesting options in college, I figured why not try to do everything I like while I
can, especially when I’m still young!

Though I’m pretty sure you could just scroll down and read Camille’s intro
ductory entry and basically be reading about me (I’ve come to the conclusion we may be the same person), I am going to expand upon who I am and how I define myself.

I grew up in a very creative, artsy family. My father is a photographer and my mother is a writer. I was always urged to use my imagination and to express my creativity. I guess this background is what eventually led me to my complete infatuation with fashion.
I couldn’t place my style into one definite category. It changes on a day-by-day basis, all depending on my moods and what has inspired me recently. I pull inspiration from everyone and everything, but some inspirations remain constant for me.

I am obsessed with Alice In Wonderland, Marie Antoinette, and Nautical anything. I enjoy the girlish fantasy involved with the first two I mentioned. The story of Alice in Wonderland presents so many interesting characters to pull ideas from, while Marie Antoinette represents one of the first major fashion icons. For nautical themes, I just can’t get enough of blue and white stripes.

Besides fashion, theatre is another one of my loves. Recently I have been trying out a different aspect of the theatre than performance. I am taking a Tutu and Dancewear Design class at the moment and have designed costumes for several studio shows. With my love of theatre, I find myself wanting to create over the top, costumey pieces. I enjoy Christian LaCroix and John Galliano who also find inspiration within the theatre. Especially Galliano with his over the top designs and shows.

I guess I will wrap it
up with just a few more things to know about me. I intend on studying in Paris next year, so get excited for the fabulous Parisian posts (nice alliteration huh). Like my fellow cohorts here, I also very much enjoy music. I love hearing new stuff, but I’m bad at remembering song names and such. Recently, I have come across She & Him and fell in love. Zooey Deschannel is AMAZING and I will definitely have
to post on her later.

Ok, I feel like I’ve only touched the surface of who I am, and that this post is rather scatterbrained compared to Camille and Marissa’s. Those two always seem so much cooler than I do! La de da.
Keep reading my loves!

Introduction: M.

I'd like to properly introduce myself, I'm Marissa. I'm eighteen years old and my mind is always running. I learn things, believe in things, hate things, love things. I'm a complex person, yet very simple.

One of my favorite loves in my life is fashion. Which is why, like my three other friends have come here to tell you about my inspiration, ideas, likes and dislikes about fashion. I want fashion to be my life, I want to live and breathe it everyday. I'm a freshman at Montclair State University studying Fashion and hopefully pursuing a job with-in fashion merchandising.

There's a million things I could tell you about myself, I should probably start off by telling you about my growing love for vintage clothing, actually vintage everything. I am especially interested in vintage things from the 50s and 60s. Full skirts and dresses from the 50s, and the "Mod" look of the 60s with short mini skirts and dresses are what I live for. The hair, the make up, the photography, the "retro" look of everything is what I have fallen in love with. If I could, my whole wardrobe would be from vintage and thrift stores, and as a broke college student, I wish I had access to them more often.

Another love of mine is Polaroid pictures, and other types of photography. I myself own a polaroid camera, fisheye camera, film camera and digital SLR camera. I love black and white prints, developing them, printing them. Everything about photography draws me in. Polaroids however have my heart. I love the old colors of the photograph after developing it, the tinniness of them, and the fact that you can have the picture available to you right after taking it makes it even better. As of now I am trying to cover a whole wall in my room of my polaroid pictures, its progressing pretty well. Unfortunately they started discontinuing polaroid cameras, and film in January of 2009. It's getting harder and more expensive to find and buy film for the cameras. Which is killing me.

A few other things you should probably know about me are, I'm completely obsessed and in love with England, everything about the country, and the people. Including the accents. Although I have never visited, I plan on studying abroad there in the future. I also love music, all types but as of this week my favorites have to She & Him, M. Ward and The Gaslight Anthem. Also art is growing on me everyday, my favorite artists at the moment are Gustav Klimt, Andy Warhol, Monet and the photographer Richard Avedon. Last but certainly not least is I have an a little girl obsession with the Jonas Brothers, love it or hate it, I don't care.

Because of my love for vintage fashion I have been comparing today's fashion to fashion from different decades. As of now Marc Jacobs, Oscar De La Renta, and Burberry are my favorites, but that will be changing by next week.

And, I would love to be Twiggy in the 60s, please.

Introduction: C.

"Life is a series of images that change as they repeat themselves."
- Andy Warhol

The name's Camille. It's french but I'm not, I'm actually from Puerto Rico. I'm eighteen and a student, a writer, a lover, a dreamer. If you think that's cliche, take a look into my bizarre mind and tell me I'm not always day dreaming.

I'm here because I'm obsessed with fashion. I always have been, and I have a bad addiction to shopping. However, I'm majoring in communications at the University of Delaware, with a minor in Journalism. I aim to work at a fashion magazine.

I'm obsessed with tee shirts. Vintage, basic, graphic, stupid, I love them. My style is very basic. I wear black and white and denim, with a little color sometimes. I think the seasons affect my style. This summer, my goal is to wear more patterns and color.

I love music. Life would be absolutely perfect if I always had background music. If you must know, I don't do favorites. But, some staples are The Beatles, The Doors, and Bob Dylan. I listen to music based on my moods, and they change quickly. Recently I've been listening to a lot of Devenda Banhart and Bon Iver. But ask me in a week and I'll tell you I'm listening to The Black Keys and The Kooks.

I'm an art history nerd. I dream of having an apartment that has walls and walls covered in artwork. (On a side note, I put too much stuff on my walls, it bothers me to see blank spaces.) You'll probably yell at me and tell me that my favorite artists differ too much, but I don't care. First and foremost, I adore Vincent Van Gogh. My other favorite artists are Salvador Dali, Gustav Klimt, and Andy Warhol. I also love Japanese woodblock prints.

I have to admit that I could not tell you who my favorite fashion designer is. But I can tell you that I love BCBG Max Azria, and that I'm not the biggest fan of Marc Jacobs (though I don't hate). Other than that, I'll just have to keep you guessing for now...
